Challenge Packaging

Challenge Packaging recently selected KEE Environmental Ltd to design and install a new waste extraction system to serve their Uckfield Factory.

Having made a significant investment in a new YSF machine, it was decided that their existing system was too small and unreliable to provide effective waste trim removal from both this machine and the rest of the factory.

Having worked closely with YSF in the past, KEE were recommended as the leading candidate to provide the system.

The new system was to provide continuous 24 hour waste extraction from the new YSF and an existing printer slotter machine.

A new independent floor sweep-up facility was also an essential part of Challenge Packaging’s requirements.

With further expansion of the production machinery planned Martin Coppard (Production Manager) required the system to be ‘future proofed’ by the inclusion of additional system capacity.

KEE specified their Static Screen Waste Separator and Rotary Valve arrangement as the means of separating the cardboard waste trim from the conveying air stream and delivering it to the compactor unit.

All system fans were fitted with acoustic enclosures and inline ductwork silencers.

The installation was planned to fit in with the factory production schedule and completed over three weekends.

Upon completion, the system was commissioned and operator training was given.

As with all KEE waste extraction plants, the system was supplied with a twelve month guarantee.
