Smulders Mcgrath
Smulders Waste Technology Ltd recently selected KEE Environmental Limited to design, manufacture and install a new dust extraction system to serve their 400/2 waste separation unit.
The remit was to provide extraction from two spigots on the top of the unit. The system was to be designed to provide the motive air to allow the 400/2 unit to separate ‘lights’ waste material from a vibrating screen, and also to effectively extract and filter the heavy dust loadings involved.
Traditionaly, Smulders had used cyclone type extraction units. However, these do not comply with UK legislation relating to dust control.
The first Smulders 400/2 unit to benefit from the KEE solution was installed at McGrath Brothers, one of the leading recycling companies in London and the south of England.
KEE selected their ARJ 280 reverse jet dust filter with central pre-separation chamber. The unit was fitted with twin rotary valve disharge and enlarged support steelwork to accomodate two forty yard skips.
The complete system was powered by a fan on the clean side of the filter unit (110 kw).
A balanced ductwork system was installed with flexible connections to each extraction point
The installation was completed and commissioned over a two week period.
