Smulders DTS
Smulders Waste Technology Ltd recently selected KEE Environmental Limited to design, manufacture and install a new dust extraction system & air knife sy
stem for a new state of the art turnkey waste sorting facility.
The project was undertaken by Smulders for DTS Recycling (Barnsley).
The dust extraction remit was to provide extraction from two spigots on the top of the unit. The system was to be designed to provide the motive air to allow the 400/2 unit to separate ‘lights’ waste material from a vibrating screen, and also to effectively extract and filter the heavy dust loadings involved.
KEE selected their ARJ 280 reverse jet dust filter with central pre-separation chamber. The unit was fitted with a screw conveyor and rotary valve discharge arrangement.
The complete system was powered by a fan on the clean side of the filter unit (90kw).
Smulders selected KEE’s Premium Air Knife System as the means of separating the ‘ligths’ waste from the hardcore at a conveyor transfer point near the end of the system.
The KEE Premium Air Knife consists of a high pressure blower fan to separate the materials, combined with a heavy duty waste handling fan to convey the ligths to a KEE Waste Separator unit. The separator was mounted on steelwork above a collection skip and installed with access platforms, ladders and handrails.
